We’re thrilled to begin our fall production journey together with A Wrinkle in Time by Morgan Gould based on the Newbery Award winning book by Madeleine L'Engle.

This year’s show takes us on an extraordinary metaphysical adventure filled with courage, friendship, family, individuality, and the power of love and hope. At its heart, A Wrinkle in Time reminds us that being different can be a strength, that we are stronger when we support one another, and that even when the path ahead feels uncertain, we can find our way forward together.

At the heart of the story is the remarkable connection between Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin. Each of them is sensitive to the world in a different way, and each sometimes feels like an outsider because of it. Yet they also have an almost instinctive understanding of one another. Their journey asks an important question: What if the things that make us different are actually the things that allow us to connect, understand, and help one another?
As we begin rehearsals, we’ll be exploring not only who these characters are, but also what motivates them, what they sense beneath the surface, what they fear, what they value, and how their relationships change throughout the story. The Ensemble is, in it's own way, a character both as a whole and in its individual parts creating at different times, danger and fear, comfort and safety, time and space travel, and energy felt between characters.

MEET THE CHARACTERS

Our production brings a wonderful collection of memorable characters to life, including:

  • Meg Murry — Smart, fiercely determined, and often unsure of where she fits in, Meg experiences the world with an intensity that others don’t always understand, yet she is deeply connected to the people she loves and has an almost intuitive ability to sense when something is wrong or when someone needs her, ultimately discovering that the qualities that make her feel different may be some of her greatest strengths.

  • Charles Wallace — Meg’s younger brother is extraordinarily perceptive, understanding people and situations beyond his years, noticing what others miss, and sharing a remarkable emotional and intuitive connection with Meg that makes him both fascinating and vulnerable.

  • Calvin O’Keefe — At first, Calvin may seem very different from Meg and Charles Wallace, but his perceptiveness and instinctive ability to understand Meg reveal a deeper connection among the three, making him an important bridge between Meg and the world around her as their unique strengths come together to form an unusual and powerful team.

  • Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which — Three mysterious and magical guides who recognize something special in Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin. They see possibilities in the children that the children themselves may not yet recognize.

  • The Murry Family — Meg’s family provides the emotional heart of the story. Their relationships explore love, connection, loyalty, and the powerful ways in which family members can know and understand one another.

  • The Greek style Ensemble - A Greek chorus is a group of performers who act together as a collective voice, helping the audience understand the emotions, themes, and larger forces at work in a story. In A Wrinkle in Time, our ensemble serves a similar role, becoming a character of its own using movement, sound and dialogue while also shifting into different roles and creating the worlds, dangers, emotions, time and space travel, and energy that surround Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin.
